Stage School Actor Headshots
Hello! My name is Aimee Spinks and I am the photographer who will be carrying out the actor headshot photography sessions for Mark Jermin Management this November. Here are a few notes to bear in mind for yours:
What to Wear:
It is important not to wear anything distracting in your acting headshots which is why I strongly recommend that you wear a plain Tshirt or vest top in either black, white or grey. Please make sure your top has no collar, patterns, trims, buttons or logos as these can all be very distracting. Please make sure you come wearing the top you would like to be photographed in so we can make the most of your time in front of the camera.
Don’t worry about anything below the chest as we won’t see this so feel free to wear any jeans or trousers you feel comfortable in.
If you have long hair, please bring a comb and a bobble so that we can keep your hair looking great, as well as experiment with photos of you with your hair up as well as down as this can make a huge difference to your headshots.
Things to think about:
Your acting headshots need to show off your personality: before you arrive at the session, think of three words your friends might use to describe you so we can try and capture the real you.
We will also get a variety of images exploring different characters and casting types so think about the characters you have played and the kind of characters you would like to play. Think about how they might stand, smile or look at the camera. We will go through some quick exercises to help get a range of images from warm and friendly characters through to more serious ones so you can have a range of different looks to your headshots. Try practicing these different looks in the mirror or get someone to take practice pictures on a phone camera so you can see which work best for you. Remember to keep it subtle; we don’t want any over acting!
You will be booked into a 30 minute slot with 4 other young actors. You will each have approximately 5 minutes in front of the camera to try out your different looks. After your photography is over, you will get to have a quick look at your images and choose your 5 favourite images. As we have so many of you taking part, it is really important that you arrive on time and ready to begin your photography. Don’t worry if you struggle to choose your images or don’t know which one to go for – we can help you pick!
If everything runs to schedule then you shouldn’t be any longer than an hour.
Your 5 chosen images will be processed and should reach you within 4 weeks via email. The images will be high resolution JPGS that you can download straight to your computer and print out at any time.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me via [email protected] or call on 07765258666.
I look forward to working with you soon!
